Avalon Katoomba

Dinner with Monica and Gerard at the new Avalon Restaurant in the Old Savoy Builing in Katoomba. A fun night and it was good to catch up with them both. Gerard was running a Colonial Photo Studio at Echo Point. A new business that he started after the closure of the Old Sydney Town site at Somersby.

Canberra Christmas Canberra Yacht Club

Our annual family gathering in Canberra to celebrate Christmas. This year was at the Canberra Yacht Club on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. Always fun to catch up with Mark and Rox and the kids. A chance for seeing Bob and Shirley and all at the one time. A great tradition that started with a brief visit to Canberra by mum and dad on their way back from Bega one Christmas, sometime late last millenium. ... and we just keep it going.

Fwd: Rostrum Club 18 Christmas Dinner

Fabulous meeting, dinner and the overwhelmingly enjoyable evening. I cannot remember when I last laughed so much at any function. It was a credit to Rostrum, to Club 18 and the function organisers.

I did put the photographs from the Club 18 Christmas dinner on Yahoo but they are no longer there.

Leung (Forder) family of Hong Kong

Kim (nee Forder) and family taken on the 11.12.2003 on the evening of her daughters 21st. Kim and her husband live in Hong Kong. She is operating a business for relocation of personnel to Hong Kong.

Viv's Indian Birthday

Chand, Lil and Viv at the Indian Restaurant, Wentworth Falls for Viv's Birthday. As phone cameras were all that was available to us this is one of very few photos of that event!!

Viv's Birthday

Another celebration of the circle around the sun. Viv came over for some pressies after a dinner at the Indian restaurant at Wentworth Falls. Happy Birthday Viv.

John will be missed

Former President of Berowra RSL sub-branch and foundation president of Berowra Probus John Hopkins died on October 27 aged 77.

As well as being president of the local sub-branch for 16 years, Mr Hopkins also managed and coached many junior soccer and cricket teams. A member of Berowra Toastmasters for 16 years, he was foundation preident of Berowra Probus in 1992.

Born at Chatswood, he enlisted at age 17 in 1943 and served in Morotai, Borneo and Rabaul.

He moved to Berowra in 1953 and spent 20 years as a regional manager with the TAB. He married Alma and they had three sons, John, Kim and Mark. His wife died in 2001. The funeral service was on October 30 and was packed with member of the sub-branch, family and friends.

Christmas light went up early this year. With the additional displays it looked pretty spectacular so I went down to the road and took some long exposures.
